Process is for removing coke from the cleavage reaction gas obtd. by thermal cleavage of 1,2-dichloroethane to vinyl chloride at 480-540 deg.C and a pressure of 15-25 bar, opt. followed by cooling to 180-280 deg.C in a heat recovery stage, whereby the reaction gas mixt. is sepd. in a further cooling zone into a gas phase and a liq. phase which contains the coke, the coke is removed from the liq. phase in a filter and the gas phase and the filtered liq. phase are worked up together in a rectification zone, such that the coke is backwashed out of the filter with an organic liq. and the coke is comminuted in the organic liq. in a communition zone and the resulting dispersion is incinerated in a combustion zone. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process facilitates emptying of the filters used to remove the coke formed during the thermal cleavage, and allows the sepd. coke, which is contaminated with chlorinated hydrocarbons and cannot therefore be dumped, to be incinerated with recovery of HC |
