PURPOSE:To improve the recording sensitivity by providing successively a first dielectric layer, a recording layer, a second dielectric layer and metallic reflective layer on a substrate, adding a rate earth oxide to the second dielectric layer and incorporating a silicon oxide and silicon nitride. CONSTITUTION:A magneto-optical recording medium incorporates >= one kind of oxide of a rare earth element including Y and silicon oxide and silicon nitride in the second dielectric layer 6 provided a layer between the recording layer 5 and the metallic reflective layer 7. With such a constitution, the recording sensitivity of the magneto-optical recording medium is enhanced, the recording and reproducing having a high resolution is stably performed with a low error rate, and the recording power margin can be widened. |
