PURPOSE:To automatically give a reading to a KANJI (Chinese character) string (KANJI composite word) 1, which is extracted from a Japanese-language document or the like, at a high speed with a high precision. CONSTITUTION:A Japanese language processing device 1 consists of a Japanese- language dictionary reference part 11 and a KANJI dictionary reference part 12, and they are provided with a Japanese dictionary 4 and a KANJI dictionary 5 respectively. Japanese-language words each of which consists of two or more characters and their readings are registered in the Japanese dictionary 4, and KANJIs each of which consists of one character and their phonetical readings are registered in the KANJI dictionary 5. The Japanese dictionary reference part 11 refers to the Japanese dictionary 4 with respect to a KANJI composite word given from an input device 2 and gives a reading to a character string registered in the Japanese dictionary 4 out of the KANJI composite word. The KANJI dictionary reference part 12 refers to the KANJI dictionary 5 to give a reading to each of KANJIs of the character string whose reading cannot be given by the Japanese dictionary reference part 11. The reading of the KANJI composite word obtained in this manner is outputted to an output device 3. |
