PURPOSE:To provide a shielding type electric connector which is easy in assembly and manufacture, and is capable of being manufactured at low cost. CONSTITUTION:A metallized insulating housing 12, on whose portion no metal layer is selectively coating formed and on its left surface a conductive metal layer M is coating formed, or a metal die-cast housing 42, having an opening 45 in its wall face is used. In the case of the metallized housing 12, terminals 24, 26 are held in a nonmetallized area 22. In the case of the metal housing 42, an insulating block 46 is fixed in the opening 45 of the wall face 44, and the insulating block 46 holds terminals 52, 53. Grounding contact pieces 34, 48, which are fixed to the side walls of the plug insertion cavities 20, 43 of the housings 12, 42 and are partly protruded into the cavities, are provided in order to make contact with the outer (grounding) conductor of a mating plug connector. |
