PURPOSE:To automatically carry out the transfer of glass boards and facilitate the recovery of spacers by providing the spacer which is engageable with the upper ends of a plurality of glass boards set against a pallet to separate the glass board from one another and which is provided with a magnetic metal. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 1 is of one-piece, synthetic resin structure made up of a head member 4 having contact parts 3 for making contact with the end faces of a glass board and a separating part 5 for separating the adjacent glass boards. The separating part 5 is provided with a magnetic part 6 consisting of magnetic metal and, by the electromagnetic force of the magnetic part 6, the spacer 1 is attracted for removal. The head member 4 is provided with a recess part 7 raised from its front side face and a projecting piece 8 projecting from the rear side of the recess part 7 and the recess part 7 is so shaped as to receive the projecting piece 8 of the adjoining spacer 1, whereby one spacer can be separated from the other upward or rearward. This permits an easy recovery of the spacer 1 as well as an automatic transfer of the glass boards.
