<p>The transporting device comprises a transport spindle (1) having a helical transport groove (4) and a locking section (5). A driver element (3) of the workpiece carrier (10) engages in this transport groove (4). The mounting (6) of the transport spindle (1) can be adjusted at right angles to the spindle axis (2), so that the driver element (3) can be brought out of engagement with the groove (4).
