PURPOSE:To improve the capacity and physical properties of a copper oxide/zinc oxide/aluminum oxide catalyst used in reaction for preparing methyl formate by the dehydrogenation of methanol. CONSTITUTION:A composite precipitate composed of copper and zinc prepared by a coprecipitation method is washed to be brought to a semi-dried state and alumina, magnesium phosphate and a specific alkali compound are added to the composite precipitate by a kneading method and the resulting mixture is dried, baked and molded into a tablet but the alkali compound is later added to the molded one according to the kind thereof before baking. By this method, magnesium phosphate for improving strength and the alkali compound for enhancing capacity are added to a catalyst based on copper oxide, zinc oxide and aluminum oxide and, by the synergistic effect of these additives, the catalyst synthetically excellent from a practical aspect is obtained. |
