The metal drain gutter is inserted in a concrete or plaster floor, partic. in premises handling foodstuffs, being covered by a grille flush with the floor. It is coated with material positively securing it to the concrete or plaster, and extending over the whole contact surface. Granulate is pref. used as the material, joined to the gutter via a layer of plastic, typically epoxy resin. The gutter is high-grade steel and steps can be formed on it to support the grille, while the peripheral edge can be of U-section. The granulate can be on a frame enclosing and clear of the gutter, and joined to it by an elastic filling of synthetic resin. ADVANTAGE - Central distortion by hot water is prevented.
