The flat display tube is controlled by a disc. The disc has layers of intersecting metal conductors. The conductors form a regular pattern of apertures and are interconnected by a glass frit. The apertures (2) taper from both sides of the conductors (1). Pref. the smallest cross section of a line (5) lies at 0 to 30% of the conductor thickness (D). The widths (W2) of the apertures on the conductor side, nearer to the line, are smaller than the widths (W1) of the aperture on the other conductor side. The line pref. lies at 25% of the conductor thickness. Two conductor layers may be so arranged that the apertures lie with their greater widths opposite to each other.
