A recyclable fibre-reinforced thermoplastic material has a matrix material similar to that of the reinforcing fibres. The synthetic fibres are mixed in a reactor with at least one monomer which polymerises to form the matrix. The melt temp. range of the fibres is higher than the melt temp. range of the matrix, though they can overlap to a certain extent. Alternatively there is no overlap between the ranges. The synthetic fibres and reaction mixt. can be extruded. The fibre content can comprise 15-60% of the total. USE/ADVANTAGE - The material can easily be recycled as it has only one component. It takes advantage of the difference in melting temp. between oriented and unoriented material
