摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain a method for controlling the vertical line width of an image generated in an ionographic system. CONSTITUTION: A housing 10 houses a conductive developing chamber 12 and a corona discharge wire 14. A high voltage power supply 16 connected with the wire 14 applies a high voltage to generate corona discharge around the wire thus forming an ion source of specified polarity. A channel 26 extends in parallel with the wire 14 at a position facing a channel 22 to derive an ionized carrier current to the outside of the housing 10. The channel 26 has first part extending radially from the chamber and second part 30 making an angle to the first part. The second part 30 is formed of the free end of a print head 32. When the ionized carrier current passes through an outlet 26, a pixel forming the print head 32 flows on a modulation electrode 36. Ions are passed completely through a discharger and discharged toward an insulating charge receiver 42. When they are swept into the channel 26, stream of ionized fluid can be understood and potential on the modulation electrode is controlled selectively by an appropriate means.
