An asbestos free friction material for use as a brake material for vehicles such as trains, trucks, cars and the like comprising of at least a lubricant, a titanium compound and either zirconium or a zirconium compound. The friction material may further comprise graphite, dehydrating components, diamagnetic components and rsin. A method of manufacturing the friction material is also described. |
