The carrier (tray) for holding shaped items of dough intended for baking comprises a base (10) with an air-permeable cover (11) of woven material. The base is perforated and consists of sheet metal and the cover consists at least predominantly, of polyester with mesh openings of around 1 mm2 taking up around 70% of its total surface area.
