PURPOSE:To enable various kinds of tones to be expressed and also enhance controllability by providing a plurality of pickups, a storage means for storing a plurality of predetermined combinations of pickups, a designating means for designating a combination of pickups corresponding to a desired tone, and a switching means for selecting the output of each pickup. CONSTITUTION:Pickups 6F, 6C, 6R are each provided with three kinds of coils and some of the outputs of each of the pickups 6F, 6C, 6R, each pickup 8a to 8f for strings and a pickup 7 for body vibration are selected by a selector 15 and synthesized and then supplied by a demultiplexer 16 to either of boost circuits 17, 18, 19 and a middle range cutting circuit 20 and a signal output from either of the circuits is output from a manually adjusting terminal T1 or a normal output terminal T2. Also the gain of a voltage control amplifier 21 is sent from a CPU 25 and converted by a D/A converter 29 via an I/O 28 and then input and controlled. A voltage signal from a variable resistance 1b is input to the I/O 28 via an A/D converter 30. The outputs of a selector switch 9 and a tone switch 10 are both input to the I/O 28 and the I/O 28 can transmit and receive data to and from an IC card 12 via a connector 31 into which the IC card 12 is inserted.
