In order to improve the repiecing, particularly in terms of its success rate, at high spinning speeds, the free yarn end cut to a pieceable end and retained after the cutting to length is exposed to a turbulent air flow which sets it in whip-like oscillations. The surface of the yarn end is thereby roughened. The yarn end thus treated is subsequently transferred to the fibre-collecting surface of the open-end spinning machine. The roughening of the surface of the free yarn end is accelerated if the yarn end is whipped against an edge-like projection or a rough face. |
