A host control method by a portable apparatus and the portable apparatus using the method are provided to activate an input part of the portable apparatus even when the portable apparatus is connected to a host, thereby controlling the host by only operating the input part of the portable apparatus even without operating the host. A portable apparatus is connected to a host(S200). A host control command inputted from an input part of the portable apparatus is supplied to the host to demand execution(S210-S224). The portable apparatus is separated from the host(S240). The step of connecting the portable apparatus to the host comprises the steps as follows. It is checked whether the portable apparatus is connected with the host. An operational mode of the portable apparatus is converted into a host control mode.
