The combustion unit has a fuel tank (2) and an atomiser device (4) which issues in a combustion chamber. A fuel conduit (7) is at least partly located in the combustion chamber (3), and on the input side is connected to the fuel tank, whilst on the output side it is both connected to the fuel tank and the atomiser device. The part of the fuel line located in the combustion chamber is formed as a heat loop (12) which is positioned in an area (11) of the combustion chamber wall (10) which contains the atomiser device. In the fuel line is a three-way valve (6) connected to the fuel tank and the atomiser device. USE - For the combustion of highly viscous fuel.
