<p>An air bag (1) in an air bag unit which is inflated by a high-pressure gas ejected from an inflator actuated in an emergency is formed of a woven fabric of hollow weaving having single weaving (6) at least part of its lug portion (2). Thus the air bag (1) can be produced by forming in advance a base cloth (5) of the air bag (1) made of the woven fabric of hollow weaving woven in single weaving (6) at its predetermined portion and merely cutting the base cloth (5) at its single weaving portion (6). In this case, since hollow weaving in which a predetermined portion is woven in single weaving and the other portions in cylindrical shapes can be made easily by a machine, the base cloth (5) can be formed easily. For this reason, work manhour can be reduced drastically and automated production of air bags becomes possible.
