A device for lifting physically disabled persons, in particular a screw-type bathroom lifting jack comprising a base with a guide for a movable column on which an arm with a frame and a seat is mounted, and inside which there is an immovable nut and a bolt set in motion by means of a hand crank positioned on top of the movable column, whilst the column rests on the bolt collar with a self-aligning thrust bearing, characterised in that the arm (4) ends with a head (5), which contains a mounted spindle (6) connected by an articulated joint to the frame (7) with a seat (8) attached to it, where one end of the spindle (6) is connected directly to the frame (7) by means of an articulated joint A and the other end of the spindle (6) is connected to the frame (7) by means of a strutting element (9) positioned between two articulated joints B and C, and the articulated joints A, B, C constitute vertices of a triangle.<IMAGE>
