An optical recording disc has a scanning system (10) that consists of a laser (36), optics (38), photo detectors (40), preamplifier (42), regulating amplifiers (16,18) an actuator (20) for focal correctors (2) and an actuator (22) for tracking correctors. The photo diodes produce signals that are received by the amplification circuit which generates corrector signals applied to actuators (28,30) to adjust the input to the maiu amplifier (16,18). This corrects for any changes due to mechanical effects. Temperature effects are compensated for by an input from a temperature sensor (24).
