The switch element has an elongate rectangular plastics housing made of an electrically insulating material containing a magnetically operated switch (3) and an associated resistance (5). The switch (3) and the resistance (5) lie parallel to one another within the housing along the longitudinal axis of the housing, with 3 projecting terminal tags coupled respectively to the switch (3) and the resistance (5) and to the common terminal of the switch (3) and resistance (5). The opposite end faces of the housing have complementary coupling elements (33,36) allowing successive housings to be locked together. USES - For use in measuring line comprising successive switch elements.
