Overhead cable crane - has hoisting winch in trolley driven by motor on cable

The overhead crane has a trolley (2) hauled up the support cable (1) by a towing cable (12). The trolley has a suspended housing (14) containing a separate winch with a lifting hook (46). The winch is remote controlled by an operator near the lift site, as well as by the crane operator. The remote control also operates the brakes on the trolley. The integral winch is driven by a hydraulic motor coupled to an engine. The cable is looped over an overhead control pulley to lay the cable evenly onto the winch drum. The integral winch housing can rotate about the lifting cable. The remote control pref. comprises a radio transmitter and receiver, with the receiver generating an acoustic signal. USE/ADVANTAGE - For transporting logs etc. Reduced wt. of lifting hook gives more precise positioning.
