PURPOSE:To obtain the electrophotographic device which is excellent in safety and easy of maintenance by providing a means for judging the presence or absence of a material to be transferred and a means for controlling transportation in the event of abnormality which stops the transportation of the material to be transferred by a transporting means after forcibly discharging the material to be transferred to the outside of a heat fixing device when the existence of the material to be transferred is judged. CONSTITUTION:The existence of one sheet of paper in the heat fixing device 12 can be judged if the number of detection times of the paper ends of a paper sensor 20 is larger by once than the number of detection times of the paper ends of the paper sensor 21 and, therefore, a transporting motor 14 is forcibly driven to transport the paper in the case. The paper is discharged from the inside of the heat fixing device 12 when the paper end is detected by the paper sensor 21 and, therefore, the transporting motor 14 is stopped after further waiting for the lapse of the constant time until the paper is discharged via a paper feed roller 13 to the outside. The danger of a fire, etc., is lowered in this way and the labor and time required for repairing of the abnormal heating are saved.
