摘要 PURPOSE:To attain miniaturization and low pricing by providing plural directional coupling type switching elements in which each in-put/ouput part is set independently and each optical waveguide is formed at a position in parallel with each other. CONSTITUTION:A first directional coupling type switching element 22 and a second directional coupling type switching element 23 operated for light of wavelength lambda1 are connected by arranging in series to increase an extinction ratio at a waveguide substrate 21 consisting of lithium niobate. Meanwhile, a third directional coupling type switching element 24 and a fourth directional coupling type switching element 25 operated for wavelength lambda2 except for the input/output part are connected similarly by arranging in series. In such a way. since the plural directional coupling type switching elements 22-25 provided with a switching function for different wavelength are formed independently and in parallel with each optical waveguide on the same substrate 21, the switching operation of the light with plural different wavelength can be performed independently. Thereby, the miniaturization and the low pricing can be realized.
