PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the life of a fixing unit according to the way a user uses the fixing unit.SOLUTION: A life determination device includes a counter for each of sheet widths that are dimensions in the width direction intersecting with a direction in which a sheet passing a fixing unit passes, adds to a counter value from the counter according to the sheet width of the sheet passing through the fixing unit, a counter value obtained by multiplying the number of sheets with the sheet width fed by a first weight according to the degree of damage caused to the fixing unit due to the feeding of the sheets, determines whether a counter value of any one of the counters for the sheet widths has reached a prescribed value, and when the counter value of any one of the counters has reached the prescribed value, notifies a user of information on the life of the fixing unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
