PURPOSE:To reduce the coefft. of friction, to improve traveling durability and to prevent deterioration of characteristics during storage by incorporating hydoxyaluminum sat of specified higher fatty acid into a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer contains hydoxylaluminum sat of specified higher fatty acid expressed by the formula I. In the formula I, R<1> is a hydrocarbon group of 10 - 26 carbon number, (n) is an integer 1 or 2. The magnetic recording medium is a coating type magnetic recording medium produced by coating a nonmagnetic supporting body with a coating material essentially comprising a ferromagnetic powder and a binder. Or the medium is a metal thin film type one having a ferromagnetic metal thin film provided on a nonmagnetic supporting body. Thereby, stable traveling durability can be always obtained even under severe conditions such as high temp. high humidity, or low temp. low humidity. Moreover, these characteristics show no deterioration during storage. |
