A composition comprising at least one biologically active amphiphilic peptide or protein, said peptide or protein being an ion channel-forming peptide or protein, and an anti-parasitic agent or an anti-fungal agent. The biologically active amphiphilic peptide and the anti-parasitic agent or anti-fungal agent may be administered in amounts effective to inhibit growth of a parasite or fungus.
