A roller skate or roller ski is formed as an integral part of a boot (10). A bracket (14) of inverted U shape is fixed to the underside of the sole of each boot (10). Two or more rollers (18) are mounted with their axes horizontal and parallel to each other. The bracket (14) is so formed that when the skater is standing on a horizontal surface (22) the axis (34) of each leg is inclined at a small angle (beta) to a line (30) perpendicular to the horizontal surface.
