The opening and closing device for a machine or installation for removing flash or burrs, and polishing metal components, the said machine (1) being of the type comprising, in a framework (2), a drum (3) receiving components to be treated, the said drum being given a rotational movement on itself by suitable drive means (5), the said drum exhibiting an opening (3.1) closed off by a door (6) articulated by opening and closing means, is noteworthy in that the said drum is set out starting from modular elements comprising, between braced lateral end plates (7), interchangeable panels, the said lateral end plates (7) being set out with two shaped slots (8) (9) receiving, with controlled guidance, means (10) associated with lateral plates (11) secured to the articulated door (6), the said door being articulated and pivoted with respect to the drum by means of a single thrust cylinder (12) located on each lateral side of the drum in the plane and volume of the latter without projecting outwards, and in that the said thrust cylinder (12) is mounted with a capability for angular excursion, and being fitted at the end of its rod with a means interacting with an intermediate articulated connecting rod (17), itself associated, in terms of articulation, to a means (19) secured to the lateral plates of the door. <IMAGE>
