PURPOSE:To prepare the title compsn. excellent in the vibration-damping properties by compounding a thermoplastic polyester resin as the principal component with a specific copolymer and a specific glass fiber. CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. is prepd. by compounding: 100 pts.wt. resin component comprising 60-97wt.% thermoplastic polyester resin (e.g. a resin mainly comprising polybutylene terephthalate) and 40-3wt.% copolymer selected from the group consisting of an olefinic copolymer of an alpha-olefin with a glycidyl ester of an alpha,beta-unsatd. acid and a graft or block copolymer contg. the olefinic copolymer; with 5-200 pts.wt. glass fiber having a flattened cross section and a ratio of the major diameter (the length of a longest line in the section) to the minor diameter (the largest length of a line vertical to the major diameter) of 1.5-5. The compsn. gives a molded article with remarkably improved vibration-damping properties as well as mechanical properties, such as strengths and rigidity, comparable to that of the traditional glass fiber-reinforced polyester resin, thus offering an excellent vibration-damping effect. |
