<p>PURPOSE: To reduce the number of circuit elements by repeatedly generating gray code quotient bit signals from divisor signals and dividend signals and decoding the gray code quotient bit signals so as to be used in the case of generating final quotient signals. CONSTITUTION: The two or more gray code quotient bit signals are generated in respective repetition periods from the divisor and dividend signals coded by a gray code. A divisor and a dividend are encoded to the gray code at the start of a division processing and the quotient bit signals coded by the gray code are decoded after each repetition or after the final repetition so as to be used in the case of generating a final quotient. In such a manner, by using gray code signals, the number of transistors required for realizing a quotient prediction circuit to be used is reduced.</p> |
