PURPOSE:To measure an ion-ion reaction process by providing respectively independent trap electrode pairs and ion sources on both sides of a detection part constituted of an acceleration electrode pair and a detection electrode pair. CONSTITUTION:The potentials of the inside trap electrodes 17, 23 of respective ion sources C1, C2 are set to a ground level while the potentials of the outside trap electrode 16, 22 of the ion sources C1, C2 are held, for example, to +10V and the trap potential of the whole of a resonance cell is changed so that the potential of a detection part A also becomes ground potential. By this constitution, respective ions A<+>, B<+> move to the detection part A from the respective ion sources C1, C2 along the potential curves thereof. Thereafter, the potentials of the outside trap electrodes 16, 22 of the respective ion sources C1, C2 are turned OFF and the potentials of the inside trap electrodes 17, 23 are set to 10V. By this method, the respective ions A<+>, B<+> are trapped in the detection part A and the resonance acceleration (excitation) and detection of the ions are performed in this state. |
