PURPOSE:To improve the vertical resolution and to improve a picture by sending and receiving a laterally longer picture like a cinemascope picture and inserting an auxiliary signal for improving the resolution in both vertical and horizontal directions to a part being a substantially no picture and sending the result. CONSTITUTION:For example, an auxiliary signal for improving the resolution in the vertical direction in a moving picture is inserted to a no signal part in existence to upper and lower parts of the picture and the result is sent. Thus, a scanning line composite multiplex circuit 44 applies frequency multiplex to a signal of plural scanning lines to convert the signal into a signal of one scanning line. In order to facilitate the discrimination at a receiver side, a signal (n) is subject to amplitude direction processing by a nonlinear and a setup addition circuit 46 and becomes a signal (o). Signals p, o are selected by an output of a movement detection circuit 41 by an electronic switch 45 and enter a horizontal signal low pass filter 10. Then they are added to a horizontal high frequency component signal and added timewise to a signal of a main picture in the middle of the picture by an adder 14.
