PHB OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To provide the recording medium which can form holes even at a temp. exceeding a liquid helium temp. and has high thermal stability by using an epoxy resin as a solid medium. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium has a recording layer consisting of the solid medium 2b and photosensitive molecules 2a dispersed therein and the solid medium 2b is the epoxy resin. Namely, the holes decreased in light absorptivity are generally generated within a light absorption band when the recording layer 2 is excited by light. The epoxy resin existing in the recording layer 2 is the cured resin. The hydrogen bonds of the hydroxyl groups existing in the resin structure thereof and the crosslinked network structure existing therein in some cases suppress the thermal oscillation of the photosensitive molecules 2a. The hole formation at the liquid nitrogen temp. (77K) or above is possible in this way and the thermal stability of the formed holes is improved.
