<p>PURPOSE:To decrease the difference of a trajectory caused by a hitting position by allowing the sum total of areas of a plane surrounded by an external line of each dimple provided on the surface of a golf ball and a ration occupied in a surface area of a virtual spherical surface of the golf ball to have a specific relation. CONSTITUTION:As for a dimple 2, from combination of its total number X, and a ratio (y) of the total surface area of the dimples 2 to a surface area of a virtual spherical surface of a golf ball 1, its dimension, total number, arrangement, and also, capacity are set so that they become optimum. That is, from the (1) expression, an ideal value Y of a (y) value is derived, and to the ideal value Y, the total number X of the dimples 2, and the sum total of areas of the dimples 2 are set so that the (y) value enters into a range of + or -0.04 of Y. In such a way, an aerodynamic characteristic of the golf ball 1 is improved, and a flying distance can be increased. Also, in order to decrease a difference of a dimple effect of an area containing the vicinity of a seam part in which the dimple is not formed and other area containing the vicinity the pall, the capacity of the dimple varied by these areas is prescribed by a relation to a surface area occupancy rate of the dimples.</p> |
