The invention relates to a process for producing a filling material to be arranged in frame or distance profiles of insulating glazing. The filling material consists of a flexible tube containing chambers in which a particulate adsorbent material is arranged. A flat strip (5) is passed downward through a winding eye (22) and shaped into a flexible tube with mutually overlapping longitudinal edges (24, 25). The longitudinal edges (24, 25) are joined. The flexible tube (3) so formed is compressed transversely and bent approximately vertically downward by means of a clamp (31, 31a). The clamp (31, 31a) is opened and raised again. The opposite walls of the flexible tube (3) are joined. The adsorbent material is introduced into the compressed flexible tube (3) from above through a pipe (62a) which extends coaxially through the winding eye (22).
