Training missile for target practice - incorporates sharp tip more brittle than remaining portions

The sub-calibre missile is used for target practice in limited spaces. It is made of homogenous material which can be hardened, it may be appreciably harder and more brittle at the tip than in its remaining portions (3, 4, 5). The tip portion (2) can be between 1/4 and 1/5th of the overall length. Steel can be used as the material. USE/ADVANTAGE - Sub-calibre practice and training missile in cheap and disintegrates on impact into portions travelling only for a relatively short distance.
