This procedure for preparing paints, waxes and the like, with pH indicators, applicable to plastics, gums and the like, for changing the colour thereof, relates to the preparation of a substance or compound (paint, cream, wax, powder, pencil) which incorporates a pH indicator, in such a way that when applied to a particular material (plastic, gum, paper) it changes the colour of the surface thereof by the variation in its pH, with said pH indicator being furthermore retained in the medium. The process is based on producing an ion exchange resin mixture, into which the pH indicator is incorporated, with a suitable solvent and adhesive, all in proportions which give the final product sufficient permeability to water. Said final product, applied to PVC, EVA, gum etc. surfaces, produces the colour change with variations in pH. Its industrial application is preferably doll manufacture, to change the colours of particular parts of the face of a doll.
