The gearing for a vehicle drive mechanism has forked gear-sections fitting into clutch sleeves (19,20,21), preferably rocker arms (23,24,25). Locking arms (29,30,31;43) are fixed to the gear rocker arms (23-25) and operate with grooves in the gear housing (1). Between the gear rocker arms (23-25) and parallel to the pivot bearing (26) in the gear housing is a two-armed tilting lever (34,35;40,41) which fits into the locking grooves by stop cams (33) on the ends. When a gear rocker arm is moved into an engaged position, the other gear rocker arms are locked in their neutral position. ADVANTAGE - The gear system is made for different types of gears.
