Plug or spring type security unit for a lock, including a body 1 in which is mounted at least one rotor 4, 5 and sets of push rods and pins 14, 19 defining the combination of the security unit, characterised in that it includes at at least one of its ends a system for inserting the key, comprising an end fitting 26 which rotates with respect to the corresponding rotor, having a slit 27 for the introduction of a key 9, and immobilised in terms of rotation in a position in which its slit 27 is aligned with that of the rotor 5, by means of a set of pins 28, 29, and in that the slit 27 has a ramp profile 31 intended to interact with a movable member 32 carried by the key and intended to immobilise the end fitting 26 in terms of rotation by action on the set of immobilising pins 28, 29. <IMAGE>
