<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a product having a light weight, sound damping qualities and self-support by forming a sandwich-like composite member containing an outside laminate section and an intermediate spacer material, preheating it to a melting temperature of a thermoplastic binder, transferring it to a mold, cold molding it, and maintaining it in the mold until the binder is solidified. CONSTITUTION: An aggregate layer SL of a powder thermoplastic binder and a glass fiber is hot laminated. The obtained laminated layer L is cooled by a water cooling plate in a station 17, then cut and deposited as section pieces SP. A sandwich-like composite material having two outside laminate layers L1, L2 and an intermediate layer of the spacer material SC is formed. The laminated layer, layer L2 are covered with a protective material F. The obtained sandwich is preheated at a temperature higher by 20 to 25% than a softening temperature of the binder between two heating plates 20 and 21, and, then, disposed in a cold mold 22 in which an aesthetic covering RE is previously disposed. The molding is executed for a time sufficient to effectively harden the binder by cooling while the mold remains closed.</p> |
