PURPOSE:To enable the production of optical fiber incorporated with both Al and Er for expanding fluorescence spectrum range by making a porous form consisting of vitreous fine granule aggregate through pyrolysis of a specific vitreous raw material in the presence of water followed by heating the porous form. CONSTITUTION:A vitreous raw material in a vaporous state is fed into a flame, and vitreous fine granules produced by pyrolysis in the presence of water in the oxyhydrogen flame are accumulated on a rotating target to make a porous form consisting of vitreous fine granule aggregate. The porous form is then heated to synthesize a transparent vitreous form. Specifically, the process is carried out as follows: using as the starting materials for synthesizing said vitreous fine granules (A) at least one compound selected from silicon tetrachloride, trichlorosilane and monosilane, (B) at least one organoaluminum compound of formula I ((n) is 1, 2 or 4) and (C) a beta-diketone compound of erbium of formula II (R and R' are each alkyl, where the H atom(s) may be substituted with F atom(s)), the objective optical fiber matrix can be obtained. |
