PURPOSE:To prevent a center part of a honeycomb structure from coming out and lessen the toughness of a honeycomb structure so as to make its preparation easy by gradually narrowing the end parts of a corrugated plate and a flat plate toward ends and winding these plates having the narrowed ends as rolling centers. CONSTITUTION:A honeycomb structure H to which a catalyst adheres is prepared by alternately winding a corrugated plates 1 which is a stripe and has consecutively corrugated shape and a flat and stripe-like plate 2. The end parts of the corrugated plate 1 and flat plate 2 are gradually narrowed toward the ends. As a result, the center part of the honeycomb structure H is prevented from coming out and its toughness is lessened so that the formation of the structure become easy. Moreover, drawing out a rod for formation becomes easy since the contact surface area of the rod and the plates becomes narrow.
