<p>PURPOSE:To attain a highly efficient picture filing method by storing a picture with low compressibility within a prescribed period after the picture data is recorded and then with high compressibility after the prescribed period respectively. CONSTITUTION:A 1st picture data compressing part 4 applies a 1st data compressing process of low compressibility to the picture data 2, and a 2nd picture data compressing part 6 applies a 2nd data compressing process of high compressibility to the data 2 are provided. The data 2 undergone the 1st data compressing process is recorded on a 1st recording medium 8. Then the data 2 undergoes the 2nd data compressing process and is recorded on a 2nd recording medium 12 when a prescribed period passed after the data 2 is recorded on the medium 8 or after the reading frequency is reduced less than a prescribed level. At the same time, the picture data recorded on the recording medium 8 is erased. Thereby, picture quality is kept and compressibility is improved compatibly, the picture data is filed effectively.</p> |
