PURPOSE:To decrease driving energy by connecting a die slide to a travel slide disposed movably back and forth in the transporting direction of a slab via a connecting rod and mounting dies for edging the slab to the die slide. CONSTITUTION:While the right and left dies 17 are pressed to both transverse ends of the slab 1 via a screw down slide 7, the connecting rod 20 and the die slide 16, a cylinder 12 for feeding is retracted at the speed synchronized with the transporting speed of the slab 1 to advance the travel slide 11. The right and left dies 17 are made to follow up the movement of the slab 1 during the edging of the slab 1. A screw down cylinder 4 is retracted to detach the dies 17 to the right and left upon ending of the edging of the slab 1. The cylinder 12 is extended again to retreat the travel slide 11 to the initial position.
