The linear guideway with a rolling element, the said linear guideway being single- or multiple-track, can be adjusted in its play with just one adjusting screw. Since, as illustrated in Figure 1, the rolling element (1) can be arranged in a manner secured against rotation as in Figure 8, play adjustment to compensate for manufacturing tolerances acquires a special significance. The rolling element is secured against rotation by means of four faces which are made on the guide shaft (2). The play-adjustment measure applies to both round guide shafts and to those with faces. Scrapers (4) can be arranged on the rolling element (1). The linear guide can also be secured against rotation by means of two guide shafts (2) in a shaft holder (3). These guide shafts are clamped simultaneously by a single clamping screw (9) and held by means of the clamping nose (10). This arrangement makes it possible to turn the guide shafts radially in an infinitely variable manner when they become worn or damaged, allowing multiple use to be made of the peripheral surface of the guide shafts (2), this leading to a significant reduction in costs. <IMAGE>
