The present invention relates to a method for forming metal components comprising at least one portion coiled on itself through 360 DEG or more, and also relates to a device for implementing this method. According to the invention, the method consists in forcing the end of the component 15 into an open slot 11 of a die 5 having the profile of the spiral to be formed, by means of a slide 8 which can move in relation to the die and supporting the strip, in such a way that the movement of the slide towards the die causes the forcible engagement of the end of the strip into the profile of the slot and the forming of this end by this slot. Moreover, the device comprises means 22 for controlling the movement of the slide in relation to the die, parallel to the direction of the flat strip, so as to force the end of the latter into the slot of the die where it matches its spiral profile, and means 32 for ejecting the strip, at the end of the slide's travel, out of the slot prior to the slide returning to its initial position, away from the die. <IMAGE>
