PURPOSE:To prevent the contact of a welding torch with obstructions by mounting a stylus for detecting objects on the outside of the machine which is applied with voltage through an element for detecting grounding in precedence of a welding torch thereby stopping the traveling of the torch and interrupting the arc when electric current flows in the element for detecting grounding. CONSTITUTION:An automatic welding machine 1 travels while performing welding work, and when a welding torch 4 arrives at the end point P of welding, a stylus 11 contacts with a striker 17. Then a grounding circuit is closed, and electric current flows to the ground through a resistor R and causes a transistor Tr to conduct, by which an electromagnetic relay Ry is energized to close its contacts Ry1. A command Eb for stopping the traveling and a command Ea for interrupting the welding power source are transmitted, whereby the power supply to an electric motor 2 for traveling and the torch 4 is interrupted, the motor 2 is stopped and the welding arc is interrupted. |
