PURPOSE:To increase coefft. of voltage nonlinearity and to improve surge resistance and moisture resistance by incorporating NaxByOz into specified semiconductor porcelain. CONSTITUTION:SrCO3 is wet-mixed with TiO2, CaO and the oxide of Nb, W, Ta, In, Y or other rare earth element and the mixture is dried; calcined, pulverized, mixed with a binder, molded and sintered to obtain semiconductor porcelain consisting of 98.0-99.9mol% compd. represented by a formula (Sr1-xCax)TiyO3 (where 0<=x<=0.25 and 0.996<=y<=1.003) and 2.0-0.1mol% oxide of Nb, W, Ta, In, Y or other rare earth element. A compd. represented by a general formula NaxByOz (where x=2n, y=2n', z=n+3n' and each of n and n' is a natural number) is then incorporated into the semiconductor porcelain by 0.01-1.0wt.%. A porcelain compsn. for a voltage nonlinear resistor having >15 coefft. (alpha) of nonlinearity and superior surge resistance after impression with 5,000A/cm<2> surge voltage is obtd. |
