Live components in switching devices and switching installations can carry overcurrents for a relatively long time. The heating of the components associated with this can destroy insulating encapsulations. This is particularly true in the case of current-limiting components, such as high-voltage, high-rupture capacity fuses, which are used for short-circuit protection in conjunction with high-voltage, high-rupture capacity lower parts, interrupter circuit breakers and load interruption circuit breakers. It thus makes sense to provide additional disconnection protection in special cases. The invention indicates a tripping device for switching devices and switching installations in the medium-voltage range, in the case of which device a fuse body 1 is used on a component 3 to be monitored. An insulating rod 4 which is directly connected to a switching device 6 or to a switching installation, is introduced into the fuse body 1. In the event of an increase in temperature, a switch (circuit breaker) which is connected upstream of the component 3 to be monitored and is inside the switching device 6 or the switching installation is switched off (disconnected). Such tripping devices can be used in switching devices and switching installations in the medium-voltage range. <IMAGE>
